Chanteuse 6/4 presents SIRSY: (www.sirsy.com | Funzalo Records):
FIERY, SULTRY, & SOULFUL, INDIE POP THAT ROCKS! SIRSY is fronted by the charismatic Melanie Krahmer who reviewers describe as a girl with a “stunning voice capable of a lion’s roar and a floaty whisper, with the lungs of a teenage athlete”. She plays a full drum kit while standing up, handles bass (played on a keyboard with her drumstick) and throws in flute solos and melodica too. Rich Libutti plays guitar and everything else, including the bass (on a keyboard at his feet), and he’s the anchor to Melanie’s on stage tornado. Playing 200+ shows per year nationally, SIRSY has shared the stage w/Maroon 5, Train, Third Eye Blind, Collective Soul, Blues Traveler, Cheap Trick, Lifehouse, Grace Potter, Ra Ra Riot, Joan Jett, & many more. The Boston Globe calls them, “the little band with the big sound” and NYC’s Village Voice says, “Go see sirsy!”.

I believe local artists play an important role in making Providence a culturally rich and dynamic city and I think all of the creative stakeholders have much to be gained if we collectively work together. Providence is poised to really become the “Creative Capital” that politicians have touted it to be, but it takes a community effort to make that happen. If artists (of all disciplines) are truly supported—shows and events well attended, promotional support from the powers that be, affordable rehearsal/studio and living space, diverse and unique opportunities to show their work, tax incentives to support an earning through the arts, affordable health care options—young people and tourists will flock to our City and state. We can do more together than apart.
